Orientation 2008
Congratulations and welcome to the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health!
As you begin your professional journey at the Mailman School of Public Health, the Office of Student Affairs strongly suggests that you participate in our orientation programming. Participants feel better prepared, encounter fewer problems, and generally have a more positive experience at the school.
Fall 2008 Orientation will take place during the last week of August. An extended/detailed version of the Fall 2008 Orientation schedule (pdf) is now available.

- Academic Events: Let us know you will attend this required week of orientation programming. Please use our online RSVP form for academic events occurring 8/25 - 8/28. [Deadline extended to Tuesday, August 19th at 11pm EST.]
- Social/Networking Events Sponsored by Student Groups: Please also let us know whether you would like to request a spot in one or more of the social/networking events sponsored by student groups. Please use this online RSVP form. These student group events that require RSVP's begin on Thursday 8/28 and continue through 8/31 and beyond. See orientation schedule and RSVP form for more details. The deadline to RSVP for social events is Monday August 25th at 11pm EST
- Please use our pdf checklist of important tasks to complete as you transition to the Mailman School
- Prior to arrival on campus on Monday 8/25, each student will need to read four articles/chapters (not the two/three as originally communicated). Three of these articles have been online previously; the seven page preface is the only new article. The grid below organizes the readings by session and date.
