Overview: The Web at MSPH

The Mailman School of Public Health's Web site is a collection of office, department, and center Web sites that are accessed via several core Web site pages. As such, the oversight and management of these Web sites is distributed among formally and informally designated "Web" contact persons throughout the MSPH community.

To reach a contact person for one of the School's many Web sites, please see the MSPH Web Contact Directory.

The Dean's Office Role
There is a central Web team, which operates as part of the MSPH Dean's Office. This team is responsible for:

  • The maintenance of the core MSPH Web site pages
  • Execution of Mailman School branding and style online
  • The creation and execution of all school-wide Web policies
  • Web application development for new school-wide Web applications, such as the School's faculty biography database and the Events Calendar
  • Administration of the School's Web site hosting contract with CUMC's Web Design Studio

Web Site Consulting Support
Members of this team also are available to serve as consultants for the community on a range of Web-related issues, such as:

  • Basic Web site update training
  • Web site planning
  • Usability
  • Project management
  • Search engine optimization
  • Web design vendor referrals
In addition, the team may be able to provide Web site content update support in an emergency.

Please feel free to contact Elizabeth Sparrow, MSPH Director of Information Technology and Online Resources (342-3021 or es2222@columbia.edu) with issues or questions, or to explore ways in which the Dean's Office Web team can be helpful to your Web site development efforts.
