Desktop support for faculty and staff computer problems is available via collaboration between the MSPH Desktop Support Team and CUMC's 5-Help and Information Commons Desktop Support teams.
Support is provided both over the phone for basic issues and via onsite technician visits for more complex problems. Simply follow the step-by-step guide to accessing desktop support services to ensure that your computer issues are addressed as quickly as possible.
Guide to Accessing Desktop Support Services
-
Report your computer problem or make a support request:
-
A 5-Help technician will contact you to discuss the problem that you are having. They may be able to fix your problem right over the phone!
-
If your issue requires additional tech support, the 5-Help technician will assign you a "problem ticket" and give you a reference number for follow up.
-
Your problem ticket will be assigned to one of our MSPH technical support representatives, who will contact you to determine the nature of the problem. If necessary, they will make an appointment with you to look at your computer.
-
You can view the status of your problem ticket any time online at: http://www.cubhis.org/IC/support_center/online_request.html Click "Review Open Ticket Status." Note: You will need your Columbia Uni and password to view your ticket
** Make calling 5-Help your first step when you have a computer problem! 5-Help is the most direct line to a computer technician who will begin working on your problem over the phone. Should you require further assistance, opening a problem ticket reserves you a space in the desktop support queue and ensures that you will receive help as quickly as possible. Support requests that come in via other channels have to be rerouted to get a problem ticket and as a result are delayed and may end up at the bottom of the queue. **
