Andrew Davidson

Overview
Andrew R. Davidson, PhD, MBA, has been a member of the Columbia faculty since 1984 and has served in various leadership roles at Columbia Mailman School, for the University, and Columbia World projects.
Dr. Davidson is currently the interim director for Academic Affairs in the Columbia World and professor emeritus of population and family health. He served as Columbia University's vice provost for academic planning and the executive vice dean of the Mailman School of Public Health. Dr. Davidson was a member of the Provost's senior cabinet, working closely with the Provost on medium- and long-range planning, and is responsible for University-wide faculty development and diversity endeavors. At Columbia Mailman, he developed and implemented the school's junior faculty mentoring program and other initiatives designed to enhance an academic environment that is supportive and inclusive.
Prior to joining Columbia, he was a faculty member in the Department of Psychology at the University of Washington. His research has focused on reproductive health, with a special interest in the determinants and consequences of fertility and contraceptive choice. Dr. Davidson has served as an advisor on reproductive health to the World Health Organization, as a member of the National Institutes of Health social science and population study section, and on the editorial boards of both theoretical and applied social science journals. At Columbia, he was a member of the Executive Committee of the GSAS, a faculty fellow of the Institute for Social and Economic Research and Policy, and a former chair of a Columbia University Medical Center IRB.
