Allan Rosenfield Receives Special Recognition from Physicians Forum

On November 4, Allan Rosenfield, MD, dean of the Mailman School, received an award of special recognition from the Physician’s Forum at its meeting in Washington, D.C. Dr. Rosenfield was selected for his extraordinary contributions to peace, justice and public health.

Since Dr. Rosenfield could not attend the Physician’s Forum meeting, the award was officially presented the following day at the Association of Schools of Public Health’s Annual Meeting of the Deans in Washington, D.C., by Dr. Victor Sidel, Distinguished University Professor of Social Medicine at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine, and Mr. Leonard Rubenstein, president, Physicians for Human Rights.

Organizations involved in bestowing the award included Physicians for Human Rights, Physicians for Social Responsibility, Physicians for a National Health Plan, Physicians for Reproductive Choice and Health, the American Medical Students Association, the Committee of Interns and Residents/Service Employees International Union, AFSCME, Doctors for Global Health, and International Physicians for the Prevention of Nuclear War.

After officially receiving the award at the Annual Meeting of the deans, Dr. Rosenfield remarked, “I am hugely flattered and honored to receive this very special award and I am very grateful to the organization for this wonderful recognition.”
