John Gupta, MPH ’96, Named CEO of St. John's Episcopal Hospital, South Shore John Gupta, MPH ’96, has been appointed chief executive officer of St. John's Episcopal Hospital, South Shore. Previously, Mr. Gupta served as vice president and chief operating officer of the Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens in Long Island City from 2000 to the present. At the 235-bed hospital, which is a wholly owned division of Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City, he provided strategic leadership and was responsible for the overall day-to-day operations of clinical and non-clinical departments. Among his many other responsibilities, he was also responsible for the hospital's strategic direction and facility master plan, medical staff development and physician partnership strategies. Prior to his service at The Mount Sinai Hospital of Queens, he was a senior consultant at KPMG, LLP. As part of KPMG's health care segment, he provided financial and operational strategic business services to major health care provider institutions throughout the Northeast, assisted in hospital operations assessments and re-engineering projects, and led and served on due diligence assistance projects for major academic medical centers. From 1995 to 1998, he served as director of operations and finance at New York Presbyterian Hospital Children's Hospital of New York. While there, he oversaw and managed the daily functioning of the facility, among other responsibilities. Mr. Gupta received a master's degree in public health and health policy and management from the Mailman School of Public Health and a bachelor of arts degree from New York University College of Arts and Sciences. He has taught graduate level courses as a guest lecturer in healthcare financial management. He resides in Roslyn, New York, and is a certified EMT.
