Exploring the World of Podcasting
A recent student evaluation of Dr. Michael Sparer's Health Policy and Management Core Course had this to say about his teaching acumen: "This is one of the best classes that I have ever taken. If his class were a rock concert, I would have rushed the stage."

In an effort to reach students beyond the classroom with timely and captivating presentations in public policy, HPM is now offering select lectures from Michael Sparer, JD, PhD, professor of Health Policy and Management, through podcasts that can be accessed online and downloaded to a portable MP3 player for mobile listening and learning. Students, faculty, and alumni can currently download the first four of 14 classroom lectures from Dr. Sparer on topics ranging from the history of the health insurance system and Medicaid policy to discussions of the uninsured, Medicare drugs, quality of care, and more.

When asked how he's enjoying his online presence, Dr. Sparer said, "With the help of Ian Lapp in the Dean's Office and Rebecca Sale, a coordinator for the Executive MPH program, recording the podcasts has been a simple process. I think the School's creative effort to offer students technological innovations in and out of the classroom is important. I believe we will see more and more educational content developed and delivered through this medium."

The School hopes to expand the content available to users by posting special presentations for alumni as a way of strengthening the connection between faculty and graduates working in the field.
