The following Mailman faculty and staff specialize in practicum issues and are available to talk to students, staff at practicum sites or potential practicum sites as indicated below:

Joyce C. Pressley, Ph.D, M.P.H., is Practicum Program Director and Associate Professor of Clinical Epidemiology and Clinical Health Policy and Management. She oversees the Department of Epidemiology practicum advisement and placement process and the recruitment of new mentors and placement sites. She developed the content of the practicum website and handles content updates and revisions. She serves on the student travel fund and chairs the Zena Stein Excellence in Mentoring Award committee. She receives and reviews practicum equivalency requests and confidential practicum evaluations from students and practicum sites. She is located at 722 West 168th Street, Room 17-12, New York, NY. Dorothy Castille, Ph.D, is an Associate Research Scientist in the Department of Epidemiology. Dr. Castille is an anthropologist and psychiatric epidemiologist. She assists with general practicum advising. Dr. Castile is located at 100 Haven Ave., Tower 2, Suite 16D, New York, NY 10032. Simon Tsiouris, MD, MPH, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Epidemiology and Clinical Medicine at the Mailman School of Public Health and the College of Physicians and Surgeons. He is also an Assistant Attending in the Division of Infectious Diseases at New York-Presbyterian Hospital. His MPH is from the Department of Epidemiology at Mailman where he did his practicum abroad. Dr. Tsiouris advises students anticipating foreign practicum placements on immunization and vaccination schedules specific to the region of the world to which they are traveling as well as other pre-travel and post-travel health concerns related to foreign practicum travel. Elizabeth Ferrari, maintains the student e-mail address data base. She assists with practicum-related student communications. She can be reached at ef2109@columbia.edu.

William T. Friedewald, M.D., s Professor of Biostatistics, Epidemiology and Medicine. He is Chair of the Master's Committee in the Department of Epidemiology which has overall responsibility for the practicum program. Dr. Friedewald can be contacted by mailing to his address at 722 W. 168th St, New York, NY 10032.

Liliane Zaretsky, Program Coordinator for the Department of Epidemiology, actively participates in the subcommittee that makes decisions on the acceptability of practicum equivalent credit for past work experience. Gary Heiman, Ph.D. developed the computer application for the practicum website and maintains the practicum web pages on the Department of Epidemiology website.
