Work on resume. Attend Office of Career Services (OCS) orientation meeting.
Finalize resume. Return resume and HPM Practicum Survey to Debra Osinsky. Sign up for small group practicum information session. Attend HPM lunch with 2nd year students who will share their practicum experiences and answer questions.
Attend HPM practicum information session. Review past student reports and record contact information for relevant practicum sites and preceptors. Contact 2nd year students for more detailed accounts of specific practicum placements. Review OCS global and domestic internship announcements. Be aware of several early filing deadlines.
Begin application process. Apply to internship programs with deadlines (e.g. NYCDOHMH Health Research Training Program, GAO, GNYHA Hospital Internship Program, NY-Presbyterian Hospital Internship Program, UN programs, WHO, CDC, CBO, Kaiser Permanente, and NASI).
Complete application materials and send resumes and cover letters to potential practicum sites. Students interested in hospital internships should email resumes to Debra Osinsky and, if eligible, apply to the GNYHA Hospital Internship Program. Others should apply to several internships. All students should maintain regular contact with practicum program director.
Continue application process and schedule interviews. Attend HPM Spring Practicum Orientation Session. After choosing practicum, meet with preceptor to complete the HPM practicum description form and project agreement letter. Submit practicum paperwork. Register for Fall Practicum Seminar P8581 for 0 or 1 credit.
Students in placements in the tri-state area attend July practicum progress meeting. Other students should email a practicum update to the program director.
