Academic Programs

The Department of Environmental Health Sciences (EHS) offers academic programs leading to the MPH, DrPH, and PhD degrees and is designed to prepare graduates to pursue careers in a variety of settings including academia, government, industry, healthcare organizations, consulting firms, and public interest groups.

The Department offers a comprehensive academic program taught by world-class faculty. Upon successful completion of our program, EHS graduates are able to identify important chemical, physical, and other exposures in the environment that can affect the health of human populations, analyze how these environmental contaminants interact with biological systems, evaluate the risks of these environmental exposures to humans, and recommend appropriate interventions to control these risks and evaluate environmental control programs.

Students are encouraged to participate in field work related to their course of study as a means of enriching their educational experience. EHS offers significant field work opportunities with faculty collaborating both locally in New York City and in regions around the world, from Africa to Europe to Asia.
